Is your father paying privately or through Medicaid? If he’s paying privately, he has a lease for his room and cannot be summarily evicted. If he’s covered by Medicaid, the Medicaid program should have “bedhold” rules that hold the bed for him for a period of time. Medicaid doesn’t want patients to be left with nowhere to go and to languish in hospitals at far higher costs. Contact your state or county Medicaid agency to find out what the rules are in your state.
